Tilicho Lake Trekking

Tilicho Lake Trekking is also kown as Tilicho Lake Trek. Tilicho Lake Trekking is 17-days long trekking package which takes you to Tilicho Lake- one of the highest lakes in the world. Tilicho Lake stands tall at 5000m altitude in the base of extensive glacier system of The Great Barrier. The Great Barrier is the highest point of TilichoPeak. Tilicho Lake is located in Annapurna Region in Manang District and it provides splendid views of Annapurna Mountain. A beautiful image of various mountains reflected in the clear shiny water of Tilicho Lake is worth the watch.
The route of Tilicho Lake Trekking follows popular Annapurna Circuit Trekking till Manang from where the trail parts its way to Khangsar Village. Later we will pay homage to Muktinath before flying back to Pokhara from Jomsom Airport.
Tilicho Lake Trekking is eden for bird watchers. We will pass through forest of rhododendron and orchid flowers where we will get the rare opportunity to view birds like danphe, brown dipper, and white- breasted kingfisher.
Tilicho Lake Trekking is categorized as the arduous trek as we have to undergo through difficult, narrow and stony paths at several points. But wildlife including Himalayan Thar( mountain goat), snow leopard, barking deer and other mammals we get to spot makes Tilicho Lake Trekking a memorable one.

Day 01: Kathmandu Arrival:
You will find our representative there in airport, ready to greet you when you land in International Airport of Kathmandu. He will receive you with your name and take you to our hotel where you will be briefly explained about the itinerary package.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu:
On the second day, you will be taken out for an excursion to some of the chief sites in and around Kathmandu. Visits include temples of Pashupatinath, Swayamvunath and Bauddhanath and Durbar squares of Kathmandu and Patan.

Day 03: Move to Syange / Jagat:
Early in the morning we will head to Besisahsar / Bhulbhule through Prithvi Highway. From there, we will either trek or take a ride in a local jeep to reach Syange. Bit far from Syange lies Jagat. The course taken gives beautiful views of river, parks, local villages and mountains.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani:
After breakfast, we will walk through the jungle. We will leave the trail that goes to Chamje and move through the bank of Marshyangdi River. We will enter the Manang district and follow the trail through the barley, rice, potato fields and pine forests to reach the village of Kodo which later brings us to Dharapani- one of the larger towns in the valley of Manang.

Day 05: Trek to Chame:
Today we will follow the trail up along the mule track through the forest and spruce and then to the river for a while. We will pass through the forest of highest oak and maple trees to reach Chame. The route taken gives spectacular views of major Himalayan peaks. We will stay overnight at Chame.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang:
Today the trail leads us to the river valley. We will walk through the steep and narrow way into the deep forest to finally arrive at Pisang. Along the way you will be rewarded with the best view of Mount Annapurna. We will stay overnight at Pisang.

Day 07: Trek to Manang:
There are two alternative ways to reach Manang. We will follow the easiest route. We will walk through Hongde and move along the river located to the north of the valley. Later the road passes through fields of grazing Yak and a wide variety of crops before reaching Mananag. We will stay overnight in Manang.

Day 08: Acclimatization day in Manang:
This is a rest day to acclimatize to the higher altitude of Manang. We will utilize the time by visiting monasteries. If we like, we can travel alongside Gangapurna which offers wonderful views of the towns and Himalayas.

Day 09: Trek to Khangsar village:
From Manang, we will lower down the path to a Chorten and turn northwest to arrive to the river. After crossing the suspension bridge over Jharsang Khola, we will pass through forests of blue pine and wheat fields to reach Khangsar. Khangsar is a Gurung village where you will find a small monastery, Chorten, Mani walls and prayer flags. We will stay overnight at camp in Khangsar.

Day 10: Trek to Tilicho Base Camp Lodge:
The trail climbs steeply up from Khangsar. We will walk beyond chortens and Gompa into the forest of juniper bushes and buckthorn. On the way we will cross a few streams and climb steeply to reach Tilicho Base Camp Lodge from where we can enjoy the panoramic view of Tilicho Peak.

Day 11: Trek to Tilicho Lake and back to Base Camp Lodge:
This day, we will begin the hike early in the morning to reach to Tilicho lake which is 3 to 4 hours of walk far from the Lodge. The place gives an excellent view of Gangapurna, Tarkegang, Khangsar and the view of upper Manang and Pisang valley. The lake itself reminds us of eden on earth. Later we will have a memorable trek back to Base Camp Lodge.

Day 12: Trek to Yak Kharka:
From the base camp, we will take a walk down through the ruins of ancient Khangsar and follow a marked trail that will take us down to the river. We will cross the river through a long bridge between Gumsang and Yak Kharka. We will stay overnight in Yak Kharka.

Day 13: Trek to Thorong Phedi:
On the 13th day, we will continue the path along the Jorsang Khola to arrive to Thorong Phedi where we will stay overnight. If we are lucky, we can see herds of blue mountain sheep called Thar grazing on the way.

Day 14: Trek to Muktinath:
From Phedi, we will follow the steep way and pass through moraines and rocky ridges to arrive to thorong La Pass. Later we will descend steeply to Muktinath. This is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus. It is also home to many ethnic Tibetans and Buddhist saint. We will stay overnight at Muktinath.

Day 15: Trek to Jomsom via Kagbeni:
We will pass through stone steps to reach the picturesque Jharkot kani (large Gompa). From here, the trail passes through ridges, meadows, streams, and forest of poplars and fruit to finally reach to Kagbeni- a gateway to Upper Mustang. We will visit red walled Thubten kagchode Sampheling Gompa founded in 1429. After lunch, we will continue the trek to Jomsom through Kaligandaki valley.
Day 16: Flight to Pokahra:
We will take an early morning flight to Pokhara. It takes only 25mins from Jomsom airport to reach Pokhara. We will utilize the spare time to explore Pokhara. We will stay overnight in hotel at Pokhara.

Day 17: Drive or Fly to Kathmandu:
A 25 minute flight through Manaslu Mountain will take us to Kathmandu. Alternatively, we can take a bus ride for about 6 to 7 hours through Prithvi highway to reach Kathmandu. We will have our evening dinner in our hotel at Kathmandu.
