Kakani-Shivapuri Trek

Kakani-Shivapuri Trek is another interesting trek around the capital city of Kathmandu. Nestled 23 km North West of Kathamndu in Nuwakot district, Kakani is a beautiful hill station lying about an hour’s drive far from the capital city. The drive in itself is quite enchanting as the road follows through ceaseless bends and curves. Kakani-Shivapuri Trek offers excellent mountain views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, the Himalayas, Gaurishankar, Manaslu and the Annapurna. The Thai Memorial Park built in memory of 113 victims of 1992 Thai Airlines crash is yet another engaging site in Kakani. It is also renowned for strawberry and rainbow trout farming besides presenting with rich vision of life, history, culture and religious perspective. Kakani-Shivapuri Trek is a short trek lasting for eight days, serving as perfect package for people who want to escape the hassles of daily life while still not being far from the city. The hike begins from Kakani and the trail continues to Aaledanda, Shivapuri, Chisapani and Nagarkot before ending formally in Dhulikhel.

Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu
After your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be taken to your hotel by our representatives. You will get a briefing regarding your travel itinerary. Overnight stay at a hotel.

Day02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu
On the second day, you will be driven for sightseeing around the Kathmandu Valley which covers temples like Pashupatinath, Boudhanath and Swayambhunath and Durbar Squares and other world heritage sites. You will also visit the ancient city of Patan from where you will ride back to the hotel.

Day 03: Drive to Kakani, trek to Aledanda
On the third day, we will drive to Kakani from Kathmandu. Kakani is situated at an hour’s drive from the Capital city. It is a favorite spot for catching the splendid view of Himalayas and lies 29km North West of Kathmandu at an altitude of 1982m above sea level. From Kakani, we will then walk along the ridge to reach Aledanda, a beautiful village in the hills. Overnight stay in a guesthouse.

Day 04: Trek to Shivapuri
The course from Aledanda to Shivapuri is an ideal route for trekking for it makes its way through the woods and the ridge which provides spectacular views of Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang and Jugal Himal. We will call the day off by camping on the flat, grassy surface of Shivapuri (2732m) which offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas.

Day 5: Trek to Chisapani
A mesmerizing view of sunrise over the snow-capped mountains can be captured while in Shivpuri. After having breakfast at 7:00 AM, we begin our trek to the Chisapani (2194m). It takes 4 hours walk along the ridge between the Shivapuri Watershed to finally reach Chisapani where we will be spending our night in a guesthouse.

Day 6: Trek to Nagarkot
A journey between the village and the forests will finally lead us to Nagarkot which lies 2775m above the sea level. Nagarkot offers an excellent view of the sunset/sunrise and it is a popular destination among the tourists especially for night stay and the view of nearby mountains. We will stay at a guesthouse in Nagarkot overnight.

Day 7: Drive to Dhulikhel
The morning begins by watching the sunrise view from Nagarkot. After having breakfast, we will then head towards our next destination-Dhulikhel. Dhulikhel is situated about an hour’s drive from Nagarkot and it is a beautiful little town in Kavre district. We will stay for the night at a guesthouse in Dhulikhel enjoying the sunset view amidst the nearby hills.

Day 8: Back to Kathmandu
On the 8th day which is also the final day of our package, we will return back to Kathmandu from where it all started. Our staffs will then arrange the appropriate time for your departure from the Tribhuvan International Airport. We wish you a safe journey and hope to see you again!
