Jomsom Upper Dolpo Trek

Jomsom Upper Dolpo Trek is a long and strenuous trek located in the western region of Nepal which demands strength but offers the serene natural delights. Jomsom Upper Dolpo Trek begins from Jomsom and will eventually lead to the restricted region of Dolpo. Positioned in the Trans-Himalayan region, the Upper Dolpo region shares the basic characteristic of Tibetan Plateau in being cold, having low density of vegetation and remaining arid. Dolpa happens to be one of the most remote districts in Nepal. The region of Upper Dolpo, however, boasts of its prized asset- Shey Phoksundo National Park which happens to be the largest and only Trans- Himalayan National Park ever to exist in Nepal. Phoksundo (Ringmo) and the legendary monastery of the pre-Buddhist Bon are the sites worth watching while joining in Jomsom to Upper Dolpo Trek. The entrance to Dolpo lies beyond Bhanjyang Jangla passes (4500m).
It’s mandatory that you possess special permission from government agency before you begin your Jomsom Upper Dolpo Trek. The trek towards Dolpo begins from Jomsom. A trail continues with twists and turns through cedar and pine forest which gives the mesmerizing views of the vast array of Dhaualgiri in the background. The land retains its serenity and mystery as few tourists set their foot in Dolpo. One can also have views of snow covered peaks and the desert beyond Tibetan Plateau from the head of the Valley.
