Gosainkunda Lake Trekking

Gosainkunda Lake Trekking is also known as Gosainkunda Lake Trek, Trek to Gosainkunda and trekking in Gosainkunda. Gosainkunda Lake Trekking is 10-day long package that combines pilgrimage with adventure.
Gosainkunda Lake Trekking initiates from Dhunche and passes through settlements and forest of rhododendron, pine and other alpine flowers to reach a High Pass at Lauri Binayak Pass which is the viewpoint that offers panoramic views of mountains. Little far from Lauribinayak lies Gosainkunda- greatest lakes among three lakes of this region. The other two lakes are Saraswati Kunda and Bhairab Kunda.
Gosainkunda Lake is believed to have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (Trident) up a mountain to extract water so he could cool his burning throat after inhaling ‘kalkut bis’- a lethal poison. Festival is organized each year in the full moon night of August during which thousands of pilgrims pay visit to take holy dip in the lake.
Goshainkunda Lake Trekking which is also known as the frozen lake Trekking is one of the most beautiful trekking destination in Nepal. 108 kundas exist in this area of which Saraswati Kunda, Bhairab Kunda and Surya Kunda can be seen from the way while in Gosainkunda Lake Trekking. It is believed that the true worshipper can see Shiva lying in the water. A large boulder can be seen in the middle of the lake which is said to be the remains of a Shiva temple.
