Everest Advance Base Camp Trek

Everest Advance Base Camp Trek is a 17-day long trekking package which takes you to the third Base Camp of Everest. Everest Advance Base Camp Trek is the farthest you can get if you do not have the purpose of climbing Everest. Everest Advance Base Camp Trek has been categorized as the strenuous trek. So you need to be physically strong to join this trek. The climate in Mount Everest is harsh and the oxygen level in air is quite low. There is a high chance that you might suffer from high altitude sickness. In that case, drink plenty of water, eat fruits and rest for awhile. While resting, you need to breath deep and slow.

This trek is an incredible journey to Camp 3 and the base of the North Col via the East Ronbuk Glacier from where you will get the breathtaking view of striated rock summit of Mount Everest. Fight your way to the summit of Everest Advance Base Camp.
While joining Everest Advanced Base Camp Trek, you will visit the capital Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse, pass through small Tibetan settlements and camps of nomadic herdsmen, travel across the arid plains and towering mountain peaks.

Day 01: Arrival Day in Lhasa (3650m)
On the first day of Everest Advance Base Camp Tour, you will come across Lhasa. 70 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa will take you through Trans-Himalaya which is considered one of the most beautiful routes in the world. The flight offers magnificent views of Everest (8,848 m), Kanchenjunga (8536m) and other Himalayan peaks. You will be received at the airport by your Tibetan guide. After immigration formalities, you will be driven to your hotel in Lhasa (3650 meters). It takes about 45 minutes to reach the old city. You can spend the day taking rest and acclimatizing in the high altitude of Lhasa.

Day 02: Lhasa Tour
This day, you will explore the sites in Lhasa. You will visit Monastery of Shera, Norbulinka palace- the summer house of Dalai Lama and Jokhang Temple- a spiritual centre of Tibetan Village. You will then follow the pilgrimage circuit around the ancient streets of the old city near the Barkhor market and return to hotel.

Day 03: Another day of sightseeing in Lhasa
Early in the morning of third day, you will explore the Potala Palace and Drepung Monastery. The 17th century Potala Palace offers a breathtaking view across the city and also has private rooms of the Dalai Lama, many large state rooms and chapels. Later, you will visit Drepung -one of the largest monasteries in Tibet.

Day 04: Drive Lhasa-Gyantse (3950m)
Today we drive from Lhasa to Gyantse along the Friendship Highway, through the breathtaking views of glaciers to a few hundred meters from the road, high-altitude lakes, high passes, beautiful villages and outstanding Tibetan colors of the hills of Tibet. Our overnight accommodation is at Hotel Gyantse.

Day 05: Sightseeing & drive to Shigatse (3900m)
Before leaving Gyantse we will visit Gyantse Dzong and Kumbum. Afterwards, we will drive to Shigatse-the second largest city in Tibet which is about 90 kilometers from Lhasa. Here we will visit the largest operating monastery in Tibet- the Tashilhunpo Monastery and explore the local market. Our accommodation will be either at Hotel Shigatse or Shandong Mansion.

Day 06: Sightseeing & drive to Shegar (New Tingri: 4050m)
Today you will drive down the road of friendship to Shigatse. We will drive through the highest pass in Tibet, La Gyamtso (5220m) to the stunningly beautiful but barren landscape of Tibet and continue on to the camps of nomadic herders before finally arriving to Shegar.

Day 07: Drive to Ronbuk (5,000 meters)
Early in the morning, we will begin our journey from Shegar and pursue the journey to Pang La. After taking brief rest at Pang La to have a view of the amazing Himalayas, you will follow the trail to Ronbuk and eventually to Everest Base Camp.

Day 08/09: Acclimatization Day
After perilous journey which has consumed all your energy, it will take two days to rejuvenate yourself. You will spend day 8 and 9 acclimatizing to the high altitude and the changing conditions. On these two days, you will also explore around the region while also taking rest.

Day 10: Trek from Everest Base Camp to Camp 1 (5460m)
On the 10th day of the journey, you will trek to Everest Base Camp 1 from Everest Base Camp. On the way, you will pass through the Ronbuk glacier for about 2 hours. Everest Base Camp1 lies in the midst of hills in the granite cliffs. The glacier snout- East Rongbuk which lies 20 minutes walking distance far from camp1 is a must visit site while in Everest Base Camp 1.

Day 11: Trek to Interim Camp (5760m)
You will continue the journey from Base Camp 1 and follow the track through piles of gravel and mud to a rocky moraine until you finally make your interim camp at 5760m altitude.

Day 12: Rest day at Interim Camp (5760m)
12th day will be a day for rest from the continuous climbing. You will grab this opportunity to make your body at ease, prevent yourself from High altitude sickness and prepare for further climbing. If you like, you can explore around the region. Overnight stay in a tented camp.

Day 13: Trek to Camp II (5970m)
It takes about 3 hours of tough climbing through southern side of glacier at the eastern end of the Changtse Glacier junction positioned below huge cliff to finally arrive to the site where you will prepare Camp II.

Day 14: Trek to Camp III (6340m) and return to Camp II
On the 14th day, you will move along the moraine to glacier and then to the eastern flanks of Changtse and then climb some hills. The pinnacles lie at an altitude of about 1480m, in a straight line from the third camp. The northeast ridge has remained far from most of the climbers due to their complexity. North Col at 7066 meters is located in the west to connect the Northeast Ridge of Everest and Changste. Beyond Camp III, there are barren gravel hills just beside glaciers. After spending some quality time around Camp III, you will return to Camp II which will take about 2 hours of lowering down of the hill. You will spend the night in Camp II.

Day 15: Return to Base Camp
This day, you will descend the hill further to Base Camp which must not take more than a day to complete.

Day 16: Drive to Nyalam
Driving total length of 215km from Base camp will lead you to Nyalam. On the way, you will pass through the Pang La pass. After having lunch at Tingri, you will head for Lalung (5124m). You will take brief rest at Lalung to enjoy the scenic beauties and then head towards the town of Nyalam where you will spend the night.

Day 17: Drive to Kathmandu
Taking early breakfast, you will drive through the winding road down the hill. Few miles far from Zhangmu lies Friendship Bridge over the River Bhotekoshi which separates Tibet from Nepal. You will drive for five hours to reach Kathmandu. You will then be transferred to hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu
On the last day of the itinerary, you will board a flight back to your country from the International Airport in Kathmandu. We hope to see you again and have a pleasant journey!!
