Bhutan Chomolhari Trek

Bhutan Chomolhari Trek is a 12-day long travel package that takes you to the base of Chomolhari Mountain. The walk towards Chomolhari Mountain also known as The Mountain Goddess takes you to the wonderful journey through crystalline trout which exists at the upstream of the track to Pa Chhu River along the green rhododendron forest and healthy green alpine meadows. This is primarily a positive branch of the Bhutanese government policy limiting tourists to 5000 per year.
Through Bhutan Chomolhari Trek, you will have the chance to get the closest view of Chomolhari Mountain ever possible unless you intend on climbing the mountain itself. Chomolhari, the Mountain which has one of the most beautiful peaks of the eastern Himalayas, is a magnificent Mountain which stands tall at 7314 meters towering height with age old strong frontier and extensive yak pastures in its foreground.
While taking in Bhutan Chomolhari Trek, you will walk through several remote villages and learn about the traditional lifestyle of yak- herders and highland farmers. You will discover ancient monasteries clinging to cliff sides, ornate temples and colorful fortresses. Thus Bhutan Chomolhari Trek can be undisputedly entitled once- in- a- lifetime trek.

Day 01: Arrival in Paro

Day 01: Arrival at Paro
Druk Airways Flight will take you to Paro- the only International Airport of Bhutan. After fulfilling the immigration and custom procedures at Airport, you will be received by our representatives and then taken to the hotel where you will spend the night.

Day 02: Trek to Shana
You will trek all the way to Shana beginning from Drukgyel Dzong (2580m). You will climb the hill to reach army post of Gunyitsawa (2810m). A little further lies a meadow beyond Sharma Zampa called Shana where we will pitch our camp.

Day 03: Trek to Soi Thangthangkha
Today you will follow the path through Pa Chhu (Paro River) and pass through forest before crossing the bridge towards left side of river. Later, you will ascend up through rhododendron forest to reach Soi Thangthangkha where you will camp for night.

Day 04: Trek to Jangothang
This day you will follow the trail up to army camps. You will then follow the river above tree line and then take a short stroll through valley to finally make it to Jangothang (4040m) where you will camp for night.

Day 05: Jangothang excursion
This day you will explore around Jongothang during which you will climb up to a small valley towards Chomolhari to the viewpoint and the glacier beneath. You can also move to Sopu Lake located near to Nye La Pass.

Day 06: Trek to Lingshi
Early in the morning, you will head for stream and cross the bridge before ascending until the ridge. You will then walk into valley and climb Nyele Le pass (4700m) from where you will leave Chomolhari and Jichu Drake behind and lower down to Lingshi camp.

Day 07: Lingshi excursion
This is a free day. You will visit Lingshi village to get to know the culture and lifestyle of the locals. You will also visit Lingshi Dzong which was built to protect Lingshi and other villages from raid of Tibetans.

Day 08: Trek to Shodu
You will follow the trail opposite to dzong and climb up the valley to Yale-La Pass (4950m) from where you can view Chomolhari Mountain. You will then lower down to the camp at Shodu (3750m).

Day 09: Trek to Barshong
The track on this day will take you to Thimchu River. You will then lower down to pass through juniper and pine forest and then ascend to the remnants of Barshong Dzong where you will stay overnight in a camp.

Day 10: Trek to Dolemkencho
Early in the morning of the 10th day, you will lower down to the Thimchu River and then undergo through ups and downs before passing through thick bamboo and pine forest. Finally you will hit Dolemkencho where you will pitch your camp overnight.

Day 11: Drive to Thimpu
This day marks the end of trekking. After descending to Dodina, you will drive all the way to Bhutan’s capital- Thimpu. You will go for shopping in Thimpu and will pass through Tashichho Dzong- the administrative building to the market selling handicraft goods.

Day 12: Final departure from Thimpu
From Thimpu, you will be driven back to Paro to take a flight to Kathmandu or your next destination.
